Cpl. Robert K. Maltman, 21, of 206 Milltown Road, Cooper Farms, died Sunday of injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident near Jacksonville, N.C.
A spokesman for the family said Cpl. Maltman was a passenger on a motorcycle that collided with a truck about 6:30 Sunday night. Both riders on the motorcycle were killed.
Cpl. Maltman was with the Marine Corps in the truck company of the Eighth Motor Transport Battalion Second Force Service Support Group stationed six months of the year at Camp LeJeune, N.C. The other six months of the year, his battalion worked at NATO installations around the world.
He had been a Marine for the past 2 1/2 years, and was a 1976 graduate of the Thomas McKean High School.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood A. Maltman of the Cooper Farms address; two brothers, James E. of Iowa City, Iowa, and Steven D. of Camden, N.J.; three sisters, Deborah M. Boccetti of Newark, Nancy K. Lipinski of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Linda D. of Wilmington; a stepbrother, Gary S. Burns of Pennsauken, N.J., a stepsister, Nancy E. Burns of Wilmington; his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth H. Maltman of Charles Town, W. Va., and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy M. Leonard of Charles Town.
Services will be held at 11 tomorrow morning at the McCrery Memorial Chapel, Kirkwood Highway and Duncan Road, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
