Melvina Wilkerson (1878-1953)

Melvina Wilkerson was born on 4 March 1878 in Mississippi. She died on 29 January 1953 in Mississippi. She is buried in the Covington Cemetery in Quitman, Clarke, Mississippi. She married Ira M. Taylor on 28 August 1902 in Clarke, Mississippi.

   Mrs. Melvina Taylor, 80, died at the family residence, Quitman, Route 3, January 29.
   Funeral services were held January 30 at 3:00 p.m. at Northrup's Chapel with the Rev. Sollie I. Smith officiating, assisted by the Rev. W. J. Hemby and the Rev. W. L. Meadows. Interment followed in the Covington cemetery.
   Mrs. Taylor is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Virgie Smith, Quitman; four sons, Sam, Austin, Joe and Bill Taylor, all of Quitman; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
   Active pallbearers were Leon Robinson, Lawrence Ivy, Will Volking, John Volking, Ed Cook and Jimmy Stewart.
