William F. Owen, Jr., 82, of Jackson, a retired Federal Government Fianance Officer, died of heart failure Thursday, February 3, 1994, at St. Catherine's Village in Madison, MS.
Mr. Owen, a fifth generation Clarke County native, was a member of Broadmoore Baptist Church in Jackson, and the Central Mississippi Lion's Club.
He had worked for the federal government for forty-three years, starting his career with the CCC Camp at Clarkco, and then the Natchez Trace Parkway after World War II. He retired in 1969 from the U.S. Bureau of Mines as Director of Finance.
During World War II, he served as Chief Petty Officer abroad the U.S.S. South Dakota in the South Pacific.
He was the son of the late Dr. W.F. and Bessie Owen, and was proceeded in death by his brother, Robert Earl Owen of Hattiesburg. He is survived by his brother, Henry Owen of Jasper, Alabama, and sons, Skip Owen of Jackson, and Donald Owen of Sierra Vista, Arizona.
