Annie Geneva Carney

Services for Annie Geneva Carney were held February 15, 1995, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Stonewall Cemetery. Rev. Johnny Mosley and Rev. Grady Crowell officiated.
   Mrs. Carney, 65, of Stonewall, died February 13, 1995, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
   Survivors include a husband, Ellis Carney, Stonewall; two sons, Rufus Carney, Chunky; and Ellis Carney, Jr., Stonewall; two daughters, Loretta Carter, Meridian; Shirley Cochran, Enterprise; brother, Brown Tanner, Stonewall; sister, Idella Boles, Quitman; fifteen grandchildren; James Carter, Rebecca Moffett, Billie Jo Williams, Dennis Cochran, Austin Cochran, Amy Boykin, Megan Carney, Ethan Carney, Chad Allen, Kimberly Allen, Daniel Carney, Chris Carney, Daniel W. Carney, Adam Carney and Misty Odom; great-grandchild, Carter Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews.
   Serving as pallbearers were Dennis Cochran, James Carter, Daniel Carney, Gary Boles, Hayward Kemp and Danny Ray Tanner.


Bennie Harris

Services for Bennie Harris were held February 14, 1995, at First United Methodist Church in Philadelphia with burial in the Cedarlawn Cemetery. Rev. Byrd Hillman and Rev. Howard Herring officiated.
   Mr. Harris, 70, of Philadelphia, died February 12, 1995, from a heart attack. He was a native of Decatur and moved to Philadelphia in 1966 where he made his home. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of WWII and was a member of the VFW Post. He was a retired employee of the Miss. Employment Commission.
   Survivors include his wife, Stefanie Harris of Philadelphia; sons, Jerry Fulton Harris, Quitman; step-son, Don Adcock, Jackson; step-daughter, Regina  Hasty, Jackson; brother, Alton Harris, Milton, FL.; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.


Singleton Beauregard Watkins

Services for Singleton Beauregard Watkins were held February 18, 1995, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Billy Watkins, Rev. Brian Scarbrough and Rev. Joe Landrum officiated.
   Mr. Watkins, 76, of Quitman, died February 16, 1995, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital from a heart attack.
   Survivors include his wife, Homa Moore Watkins, Quitman; a son, Fred Watkins, Kosciusko, MS; three brothers, Rev. Billy Watkins, Vicksburg; Troy Watkins, Natchez; and Herbert Watkins, Wiggins; two sisters, Mae Ruth Ishee, Stringer and Earline Bruce, Jackson; and grandchildren.


J. W. McCoy

Services for J. W. McCoy were held February 8, 1995, at Northview Assembly of God with burial in the Forest Lawn Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Rev. Kevin Patterson and Rev. John Jacobs officiated.
   Mr. McCoy, 74, of Meridian, died February 6, 1995, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
   He was retired and a member of Northview Assembly of God Church.
   Survivors include his wife, Sandra McCoy, Meridian; a daughter, Lisa Powell, Meridian; a son, George McCoy, Hickory; three brothers, B. R. McCoy, Raymond McCoy and Sonny McCoy, all of Shubuta; four sisters, Eva Mae Andress, Mobile, Katie Jones, Puggy Gatlin and Jessie Staggs, all of Shubuta; a granddaughter, numerous nephews and nieces and a stepdaughter, Tammy Larson, Shubuta.
   Pallbearers include Ronnie Massey, Harold Noe, J. E. Moore, Pres McMullen, Dr. Ed Carruth, Champ Gipson, Ben Dearman and Bob Hill.


Sarah Catherine Gordon

Services for Sarah Catherine Gordon were held February 20, 1995, at Geneva Presbyterian Church with burial in the Home Cemetery. Rev. Steve Hamilton officiated.
   Mrs. Gordon, 78, of Shubuta, died February 18, 1995, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
   Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Gordon Carmichael, Mobile, AL; and Gay Gordon Avera, Shubuta; a brother, Franklin Lucas, Vossburg; three sisters, Carrie Lucas, Vossburg; Mary Lucas Blaylock and Gertrude Lucas Hughes, both of Gulfport; four grandsons and three great-grandchildren.


Ruby Kay Harris

Graveside services for Ruby Kay Harris were held on February 21, 1995, at Odd Fellows Cemetery with Rev. Ben F. Lewis and Rev. Dale Whitlock officiating.
   Mrs. Harris, 96, of Meridian, died February 19, 1995, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
   Survivors include two sons, Robert Earl Harris, Meridian; and Paul Harris, Stonewall; stepdaughter, Clara Williams, Stonewall; a brother, H.B. McRee, Sonomia, CA; a sister, Doris Dandridge, Meridian; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.


Bessie Elizabeth Davis

Services for Bessie Elizabeth Davis were held on February 21, 1995, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with burial in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Rev. Grady Crowell and Rev. Buddy Braddock officiated.
   Mrs. Davis, 81, of Quitman, died February 19, 1995, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
   Survivors include three sons, James H. Davis, William Davis and James H. Davis, Jr., all of Quitman; two daughters, Shirley Tucker, Quitman; Debbie Litchfield, Meridian; a brother, Clarence Lee, Marion; a sister, Nancy Harris, DeSoto; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
