Horace Russell Pogue

Horace Russell Pogue, 90, of Katy, TX, passed away on April 13, 2014, at Methodist West Houston Hospital.
     He was born on August 3, 1923, to Arthur and Laura Pogue in Whynot, MS. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
     Mr. Pogue is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Jim) Ellison; sisters, Jackie Moffett, Betty Harris, Hilda Hatten and Gaye Fitzgerald; and several nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pogue.
     Visitation was held Thursday, April 17, 2014, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, MS.
     Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gene Neal officiating. Burial took place in the Hebron Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
     Pallbearers were Ed Taylor, Steve Holloman, C. W. McLemore, Keith Holloman, Mitchell Moffett and Ryan Hollowman.

Annie Kathryn Fleming

Annie Kathryn Fleming, 84, of Quitman, MS, passed away on April 16, 2014, at her residence.
     She was born on June 18, 1929, to William and Vermell (Mosley) Smith in Choctaw County, AL.
     Annie is survived by her husband, Leon Fleming; son, Billy Fleming; daughters, Margie Newsom and Linda Jo Hunt; brother, James Smith; sisters, Margaret Rodgers and Martha Hearn; nine grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Frances Fleming; parents, William David and Vermell Smith; and brother, William David Smith, Jr.
     Visitation was held Friday, April 18, 2014, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman.
     Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 19, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bernice Fleming and Rev. David Gilbert officiating.
     Burial took place in the Rock Springs Cemetery.

Charles Edward Yielding

Charles Edward Yielding, 27, of Meridian, MS, passed away on April 15, 2014, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
     Charles is survived by his mother, Margie Gatlin; brothers, Alton Cooley, Steve Cooley, and Neil Cooley; sisters, Rachel Brownlee and Samantha Haney; grandmother, Margaret Parker; two nephews and one niece; aunts.
     He attended Quitman High School and served as a football manager in 2002.
     Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 19, 2014, 3:00 p.m. at the Goodwater Cemetery with Rev. Todd Parker officiating. Visitation was held 30 minutes prior to the service at Goodwater Cemetery.

Flossie C. Dearman Robinson

Mrs. Flossie C. Dearman Robinson passed away at her residence on April 19, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was a member of Union Baptist Church.
     Mrs. Robinson is survived by her son, Wayne Robinson and his wife Faye, of Starkville, MS; her son, Bennie Robinson of Orange Beach, AL; a brother, Mallie Dearman of Quitman MS; a sister-in-law, Berniece Rolison, of Enterprise, MS; grandson, Edward Robinson of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter Anita Bond and her husband, Robert of Meridian; granddaughter, Kris Gray and her husband, Trey of Meridian; and granddaughter, Kay Stinson and her husband, Doug of Pace, FL. Her great-grandchildren include Cole and Shelton Gray of Meridian, Landon and Laiken Stinson of Pace FL, Edward Wilson of Hattiesburg, MS, Christopher Wilson of Sacramento, CA, Jessica Wilson of Meridian, and Zachary Bond of Hattiesburg. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
     Services for Mrs. Robinson were held Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Union Baptist Church on Highway 145 South at 3:00 p.m. with visitation for family and friends one hour prior to the services. Brother Kyle Routzahn presided. Pallbearers include: Edward Robinson, Cole Gray, Landon Stinson, Zachary Bond, Robert Bond Sr. and Kenneth Rolison. Honorary Pallbearers were Doug Stinson, Trey Gray, and Shelton Gray.
     Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her parents, Mallie and Nelia Dearman; her husband, William Edward Robinson; brothers, Naamon Dearmon, Claborne Dearman, Franklin Dearman; and sisters: Lucy Tims, Edna Reyolds, Lossie Martin, Dot Roberson, Blanche Rexford, and Kizzie Smith.

Shirley Oliver Dearman

Services for Shirley Oliver Dearman were held Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Mont Rose Baptist Church in Quitman, MS, with Bro. Dennis Coats officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
     Mrs. Dearman, 75, of Quitman, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. she was born in Smithville, AR, to the late Arthur and Noma Oliver.
     She is survived by her son, Arthur Dearman; daughters, Shelly Jones (Glyn), and Brenda Thompson (Timothy); grandchildren, Chris Dearman (Kersten), Jerry Dearman, Charles Dearman, Nick Dearman, Stephanie Dearman, Jeffrey Anthony (Laura), Arthur Jones, Eric Thompson, Olivia Cooley (Johnny), and Lance Thompson; five great grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy, Glenn, Billy, Kenneth, and Jerry Oliver; sisters, Inez Williams, Mary Nunnally, Patsy Barker, and Barb Brannon; several nieces and nephews; and long time friend, Betty Ishee.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Oliver and Noma Foley Oliver; brother, Miles A. Oliver; sister in laws, Ella Mae Oliver and Patsy Oliver; and grandson, John Anthony.

Charles W. Schrimpshire

Charles W. Schrimpshire, 79, of Meridian, MS, passed away on April 20, 2014, at Anderson's Hospital.
     He was born on June 3, 1934, to Odell and Mildred (Halbert) Schrimpshire in Clarke County, MS.
     Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley Schrimpshire; step-son, Keith Thomas; step-daughter, Ginger Sweat; brothers, Richard Schrimpshire, Douglas Schrimpshire and Johnny Schrimpshire; grandchildren, Sherri Kostick, Lacy Thomas, Scottie Thomas, Levi Greene and Alexis Sweat; and great grandchildren, Karlee Kostick, Kendal Kostick and Kaley Kostick.
     He was a member of Union Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and member of the church choir. He was a skilled carpenter who worked for many people in the East Mississippi area.
     Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014, 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, Meridian, MS.
     Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2:00 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Routzahn and Rev. John Edwards officiating. Burial will take place in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
