DNA Mash-Up: MDLP

If you have taken a DNA test through one of the big "companies" like Ancestry, 23andme, MyHeritage, etc., you can download your DNA as "raw data" and upload the file onto Gedmatch.com. Gedmatch has more advanced features for anyone who wants to play around with their DNA.

Using Ancestry's results as a starting point. (Ancestry has recently changed up their algorithm and I'm using my "old" results.)
From this point on I'm grouping Europe South, Middle East, European Jewish, and Caucasus together as 5% Middle East.

The MDLP stands for Magnus Ducatus Lituaniae Project. This DNA feature on Gedmatch basically offers a general overview of your DNA and it also includes ancient DNA.
Please note that when you run your DNA through one of these tests any results you get back may not mean that you belong to any of those groups. If a test tells you you're 60% of Group A this does not mean you have an ancestor that came from that location. It just means that based on all the groups the test offers, you better identify with Group A over the others. You can then run addition tests on Group A if you want to explore it further.
