Betty Pearl Johnson

Betty Pearl Johnson, 77, of Quitman, MS, passed away on July 11, 2013, at Infinity Hospice.
     Betty loved cooking for family and friends, nothing could top her peas and cornbread dressing. Her home was always open as a place to share a slice of lemon pound cake or simply relax and enjoy the sights of her beautiful flowers and the hummingbirds that visited. She loved to be on the go, spending time in fellowship with her church family, listening to live music with her friends, and visiting people in the community. God's love flowed through Betty to bring joy to the lives of everyone she met.
     Betty is survived by sons, Michael D. (Sherrie) Johnson, Jeff Johnson, and George D. (Katie) Johnson; Daughter, Emma D. (Jeremiah) Linn; Grandchildren, Chris (Laine) Johnson, Scotty (Charlotte) Johnson, Phillip (Ashlea) Johnson, Stacy (Daniel) Benefield, Isaac Linn, Own Linn, Ezra Linn; eight great grandchildren; brother, Morris Herrington; and sisters, Roslyn (Floyd) McCarra and Doris (Chuck) Floyd.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Johnson, Jr.; and her parents, Edd Herrington and Claudie Mae Boles Herrington.
     Visitation was held Saturday, July 13, 2013, 5:00 pm - 9 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 14, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Terry Irby and Rev. Troy Dew officiating.
     Burial followed in the Providence Cemetery.
     Pallbearers were Scotty Johnson, Phillip Johnson, Jeremiah Linn, Bruce Boykin, Bob Boykin and Daniel Benefield. Honorary Pallbearer was Bud Fuller.

Mary Evelyn Pugh

Mary Evelyn Pugh, 77, of Quitman, MS, passed away on July 14, 2013, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, MS.
     She was born on December 4, 1935, to Henry and Katie (Long) Dearman at Hinton, AL.
     Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband, Johnny D. Pugh; Sons, Jason (Celinda) Pugh and Dale (Ernestine) Pugh; Daughters, E. Linda (Donnie) Simpson and Kathie (Steve) Parke; Brothers, Byron Dearman and Leo Dearman; Sisters, Helen Touchstone, Wilma Robinson, Bobbie Stabler, and Aliean Waddell; Grandchildren, Melissa, Brian, Christy, Rachel, Stevie, Chad, Damon, Marco, Nicholas, Leia, Carmen, Maegan and Brandon; and 21 Great Grandchildren,
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Lamar and Katie Mae Dearman; and Brother, Pleamon Griffin.
     Visitation will be held Thursday, July 18, 2013, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman.
     Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wesley Pepper and Rev. Ed Shoemaker officiating.
     Burial will take place in the Cooper's Chapel Cemetery.
