Passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 4, 2016.
Mother of Jim Harlan (Carole) and Jude Quinn. Sister to James D. Joyner (Sharon). Sister-in-law to JoAnne Joyner, Ruth Ann Joyner, and Fred Zimmerli. Grandmother to Scott, Kim, Melissa, David, Paul, Chanda, Rosina, Matt, and Sam. Great-grandmother to Claudia and Olivia. Loving aunt to a multitude of nieces and nephews, and special friend to a large menagerie of feline and canine furbabies.
Betsy was predeceased in 2014 by Marshall, her loving husband of over 60 years. Also by her parents, Bruce and Dorothy Dietrich Joyner, her brothers Bruce, David, and Charles "Buzz" Joyner, and her sister Patricia Zimmerli.
Betsy was a kind soul who loved and deeply cared for just about everyone she ever met. She was a talented cook and baker, who was especially known for roasting overly-large holiday turkeys, and producing prodigious amounts of delicious Christmas cookies year after year. Betsy loved watching sports and competition shows on television, especially the Olympics and The Amazing Race. When she was in her 50's, she became a rather good competitive darts player.
Betsy was also a passionate long-time fundraiser for the (?) . Her team raised well over $100,000 during its 15-year history and she worked tirelessly on it year-round. She was devoted to her faith, and was with her husband Marshall a member of Hanover Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.
Betsy was a born saleswoman, and she and Marshall ran a successful Shaklee Products Distributorship for 46 years. Their success in this business afforded them the chance to travel to many parts of the US and overseas, and they made life-long friendships along the way.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 15, 11am at Hanover Presbyterian Church, 1801 N. Jefferson St., Wilmington, DE 19801. A reception will follow at the church.
