Services for James Carl Martin, age 78, of Quitman, were held July 4, 1991, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Leland Goodman and Dr. Rex Yancey officiated.
Mr. Martin passed away on July 2, 1991, at H.C. Watkins Hospital.
He was born in Clarke County, a World War II Veteran, retired teacher, retired rural mail carrier, member of the Add Riley VFW Post, Mason, and J.A. Terral Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sadie Martin, Quitman; two step-sons, Edmond D. Cooper, Meridian; James Cooper, Mobile, Ala.; one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Morgan, Gautier; three step-daughters, Mrs. Rita Klick, Sicklerville, New Jersey; Mrs. Linda Thomas, Meridian; Mrs. Katie Smith, Mobile, Ala.; one sister, Mrs. Sara Hollensed, Hattiesburg; one nephew, Mr. Herman Hollensed, Hattiesburg; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and eleven step-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Virgie Mae Whitaker

Services for Virgie Mae Whitaker, age 59, of Rt. 2, Shubuta, were held on July 6, 1991, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Meridian. Rev. Jim Smith officiated.
Mrs. Whitaker passed away on July 4, 1991, at her residence.
She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Billy Whitaker, Shubuta; two sons, Howard Whitaker, Meridian; Mike Whitaker, Quitman; one daughter, Brenda Hollingsworth, Meridian; two sisters, Louvina Carter and Mary Williams, both of Meridian; nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tommy Seale, Steve Whitaker, Leland Williams, Henry Hearn, Leon Shirley, Chris Pritchett.
