Clifford Davidson

Services for Clifford Davidson, 69, were held October 3rd from the chapel of Baldwin-Lee Funeral home in Pearl. Burial followed at Terry Cemetery.
   Mr. Davidson, a native of Clarke County, was a heavy equipment mechanic and driver. He died October 1st of heart failure at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson.
   He was a resident of Pearl and a former resident of Jackson. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army in Philippines. He was a member of the American Legion, Northside Drive Post and Raymond Road Baptist Church.
   Survivors include his sons Charles Davidson of Jackson, Chuck Morgan of Mendenhall and Aubrey Davidson of Meridian; daughters Mary Harris of Pine Bluff, Ark., Bobbie Jean Ivey of Jackson, Judy Lucus of Byram and Cathy Davidson of Meridian; sisters, Rhetta Mae McIntosh of Lumberton and Shirley Cox of Crystal Springs; and 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.


Donald R. Boone

Services for Donald R. Boone, age 58, of Rt. 1 Quitman, were held on November 14, 1990, at Concord United Methodist Church in Enterprise with Wrights Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Concord Cemetery. Rev. Billy Hayes officiated.
   Mr. Boone passed away on November 12, 1990, at Jeff Anderson Regional Hospital.
   He is survived by his wife, Trudy Williams Boone, Quitman; sons, Ricky Kirkman, Enterprise; James Kirkman, Stonewall; Donald R. Boone, Jr., West DePere, Wis.; David Rainey, La Place, La.; Tommy Dechara, Slidell, La.; daughters, Sheryl Lynn Boone, Stonewall; Linda Boone Barnett, Lyans, Ill.; four sisters, Katherine Bonner; Doris Riley, Quitman; Rebecca Myers, Crystal Sprins; Nettie Odom, Stonewall; seventeen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.


Gary Wayne Grant

Services for Gary Wayne Grant, age 38, of Laurel, were held on November 15, 1990, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel with burial in Lake Park Hills Cemetery in Laurel.
   Mr. Grant passed away on November 12, 1990, in Laurel.
   Mr. Grant was a senior sales and service specialist with Schlumberger in Laurel, a member of Temple Baptist Church in Big Springs, Texas.
   Mr. Grant is survived by his wife, Brenda Willett Grant, Laurel; three daughters, Amy Kathleen Grant; Kely Lynn Grant, and Ashley Delilah Grant, all of Laurel; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Grant of Quitman; two brothers, Jimmy Lee Grant, Boothville, La.; and Richard Gene Grant, Scranton, Penn.; step-grandmother, Mrs. Victoria Jones, Ft. Worth, Texas.


Otis Shanks

Services for Otis Shanks, of Chicago, Ill., were held on November 5, 1990, at St. Kilian Catholic Church with final rites at Center Ridge Baptist Church near Shubuta on November 8, 1990. Burial in the Center Ridge Cemetery.
   Rev. Lorenzo Carter and Rev. Cleveland McFarland officiated. Music was provided by Robin (Micky) Shanks and the Center Ridge Senior Choir.
   Mr. Shanks was born on January 4, 1933, to Mr and Mrs. Jerry and Lula Mae Shanks of Shubuta. He was the third son of ten children.
   Otis attended school at Center Ridge Baptist Church in Shubuta where he was baptized at an early age.
   He came to Chicago, in 1953. On February 23, 1963, he married Elenor Mullen and this union was blessed with three sons and a daughter. Otis had a daughter form a previous marriage.
   Otis was employed for many years at Oscar Mayer Company. He then went into his own business, Better Cleaning Service. He was a member of the Hall of Garden City Lodge No. 59, A.F. & A.M. Masons.
   In his spare time, he grew beautiful flowers and gardens. He was known for the floral beautification in the 86th and Aberdeen community.
   He is survived by his loving parents, Jerry and Lula Mae; devoted wife, Elenor; three sons, Vincent, Jeffrey Otis and Timothy Ellis; two daughters, Yolanda, Adair Ali; daughters-in-laws, Robin (Mickey); Lynn; three granddaughters, Desmonica; Kariea; Kiara; two brothers, John (Sarah), New Orleans; Jesse Jerry (Roswiths), Aberdeen, Maryland; sisters, Mary (Canthon) Bryant, Pearl Bradshaw; Diane (John) Edwards; Lillie (Roosevelt) Davis; Sarah Shanks, all of Chicago; Ida (Donald) Heard, Cincinnai; Anne Pickens, Flint, Michigan; a host of loving aunts, uncles, brothers, and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and many caring friends and one special person, William Askew.
