Oscar Mixon

Services for Oscar Mixon, age 91, of Rt. 1, Quitman, were held on November 26, 1990, at Brightwater Methodist Church with burial in Brightwater Cemetery. Rev. Johnny Mosley officiated. Wrights Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
   He was a Mason of Toxey, Alabama Lodge.
   Mr. Mixon is survived by two sons, John O. Mixon, Fairborne, Ohio; Gene C. Mixon, Quitman; four daughters, Marie Mosley, Sadie McKee, both of Meridian; Ophelia Harris, Quitman, Codelia Wayman; Enterprise; one sister, Martha Fortenberry, Philadelphia; thirty-two grandchildren, sixty-one great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.


Dora Katherine Boney

Funeral services for Dora Katherine Boney were held Wednesday, November 21, from Wright and Furgeson Funeral Home of Jackson. Miss Boney, 75, of 1905 Smallwood Drive in Jackson, died Sunday, November 18, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.
   Internment was at McGowan's Chapel Cemetery, with burial in the family plot.
   Originally from Clarke County, Miss Boney resided in Jackson for over 50 years. She was a retired personnel director at Sears, and later aided in forming the McRae's employee credit union.
   She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and served in the Homebound department, Sunday School and various church committees.
   Miss Boney was past president of the Altrusa Club and a past member of the Jackson Personnel Association. After her retirement, she was instrumental in forming the Sears Retiree Club, in which she remained active.
   Leading the funeral services was Bro. David Jay. Pallbearers included nephews Travis, Travis Ray, Daniel, Ray, Douglas and Steven Boney.
   She is survived by Dan S. Boney and Louise B. Hadsell of Quitman; James A. "Jimmy" Boney of Jackson; five nephews, a step-niece, six great-nephews, three great-nieces; and an uncle, Francis W. Stevens.
   Miss Boney was the daughter of Roy C. and Cammie L. Stevens Boney.
   Memorial donations may be made to the Baptist Children's Village of Flag Chapel Road in Jackson, or to a favorite charity.
