Volna Holland Williams

Graveside services for Volna Holland Williams, age 91, of Rt. 3 Meridian were held on August 24, 1991, at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Lauderdale County. Rev. Russell LuQuire officiated.
   She passed away on August 21, 1991, in Evansville, Indiana.
   She was born in Mississippi and was an LPN.
   Mrs. Williams is survived by one son, J. Newt. Holland, Meridian; four grandchildren, Harriet Holland McAlister, Evansville, IN.; Lynn Holland Jenkinson, Lafayette, IN.; J.N. "Jim" Holland, Jr., Atlanta, GA; Susan Holland Engell, Pheonix, AZ.; five great grandchildren; four step-sons, Cleo Williams, James Williams, Horris Williams, Charles R. "Buddy" Williams, all of Quitman; two step-daughters, Elsie Hackler, Ivone Fagan, both of Quitman; numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.


Ruth Kamper Gatz

A memorial service for Ruth Kamper Gatz, age 92, was held on July 31, in Sarasota, Florida, with a graveside service held in the Enterprise Cemetery on August 5, 1991. Rev. Henry Hudson officiated.
   She passed away on July 24, 1991, in Sarasota, Florida.
   Ruth was born August 22, 1898, in Enterprise, Mississippi. She spent the last 28 years in Sarasota, Florida, after living in Jackson, Miss. Many of her earlier years were spent in the Panama Canal Zone. She was a homemaker and member of the Episcopal Church.
   She is survived by four sisters, Wilhelmina Galloway, Maxine Hitchcock, Robin Comer, all of Sarasota, Florida and Alice Jones of Rosedale, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.


Virgil Douglas McCutcheon

Services for Virgil Douglas McCutcheon, age 82, of Quitman, were held August 23, 1991, at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Rosemont Cemetery. Rev. L.D. Campbell offiicated. Ashby Funeral home of Benton, Arkansas was in charge of arrangements.
   Mr. McCutcheon passed away on August 20, 1991, at H.C. Watkins Hospital. He was born on July 29, 1909 in Leslie, Arkansas and was a retired mechanic and a Baptist.
   He is survived by two sons, Kenneth McCutcheon, Lawton, OK.; Virgil (Mickey) McCutcheon, Jr. Dallas, TX; four daughters, Eloise Evera, Quitman, MS.; Linda Berry Clairday, Benton, AK.; Betty Mize, Little Rock, Ak.; Karen McClain, Shepard, MI.; one brother, Pleas McCutcheon, Benton, AK.; twenty grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
   His grandsons served as pallbearers.


Billy Alford Lewis

Services for Billy Alford Lewis, age 61, of Rt. 1 Pachuta, were held on August 24, 1991, at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Joe Lofton, Rev. Joseph Moulds and Father Anthony officiated. Wright's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
   Mr. Lewis passed away on August 23, 1991, at his residence.
   He is survived by his wife, Patricia B. Lewis, Pachuta; four sons, Glenn Lewis, Enterprise, Mike Lewis, Darryl Lewis, Shawn Lewis, all of Rose Hill; one brother, J.W. Lewis, Meridian; one sister, Annie Lee Rainer, Dalewood, eight grandsons and one granddaughter.


Clayborn C. Norris

Graveside services for Clayborn C. Norris, age 81, were held at the Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen with Rev. Charles McCullough officiating. Porter Loring Mortuary in San Antonio was in charge of arrangements.
   Mr. Norris is a 25 year resident of San Antonio and former 20-year resident of Brownsville. He retired in 1986 after 50 years in education. He served at several schools in Brownsville and later in San Antonio.
   Survivors include his wife, Thalia Norris; two daughters, Diane Crowe of Austin and Lujane Mallet of Richardson; one son, Dr. John M. Norris of Bryan; one sister, Bertha Bragg of York, Ala.; and nine grandchildren.


Ada Mae Griffin

Services for Ada Mae Griffin, age 84, of Rt. 1 Meridian, were held on August 26, 1991, at Union Baptist Church with burial in the Union Cemetery. Rev. John Edwards officiated. Wright's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
   Mrs. Griffin passed away on August 23, 1991, Dekalb General Hospital in Smithville, Tenn.
   She is survived by one son, Mr. Fletcher Griffin, Jr., Smithville, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Pauline Pickard, Quitman; and one grandchild.


Michael Glen Castle

Graveside services for Michael Glen Castle, age 38, of Pachuta, were held on August 25, 1991, at Pachuta Cemetery with Rev. John Macki officiating. Wright's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
   Mr. Castle passed away on August 23, 1991, in Hattiesburg.
   He is survived by his parents, Elkins and Pauline Castle, Pachuta; one brother, Terry Castle, Quitman; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Addie Castle Lightsey, Enterprise; and two nieces.


Mattie Ruth Williams

Services for Mattie Ruth Williams, age 90, of Rt. 1 Rose Hill were held on August 25, 1991, at Rose Hill Methodist Church with burial in the Hopewell Cemetery in Jasper County. Rev. Joe Loften officiated. Wright's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
   Mrs. Williams passed away on August 23, 1991, at Jasper General Nursing Home in Bay Springs.
   She is survived  by one son, Mr. Cecil Williams, Rose Hill; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn O Connell, Stoney Brook, New York; one brother, Mr. Gandy McCormick, Newton; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
