Services for Richard Vernon Cox were held May 4, 2000, at Souenlovie Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Parker Chancellor and Buddy Petty officiated.
Mr. Cox, 82, died May 1, 2000, at his residence in Shubuta.
Survivors include three brothers, Jack Cox of Imperial Beach, Calif., George Irwin Cox of Lancaster, S.C., Pete Cox of Quitman; seven sisters, Velma Culpepper, Eula Thomas, Nora Williams, Ruby Nosley, Christine Pool, Catherine Mosley all of Quitman, Pauline Ray of Meridian; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cox preceded his wife, Ann Cox, in death by only a few hours.
Mr. Cox was a member of the VFW, WWII Veterans, Former Prisoner of War, and was a member of Souenlovie Baptist Church.
Pallbearers include Dennis Mosley, Ray Mosley, Gerald Saners, Doug Logan, Kenny Mosley, Greg Cox, Roger Mercer, Bobby Fields.
Honorary Pallbearers include Charles Davis, E.B. Covington and Ray B. McKenzie.
