Mary Virginia Boman

Services for Mary Virginia Boman were held on February 27, 1993, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. David Jay officiated.
   Ms. Boman, age 76, of Rt. 3 Quitman, passed away on February 25, 1993, at H. C. Watkins Hospital.
   Survivors include one brother, Henry Boman, Quitman; one brother-in-aw, Lavelle Griffin, Quitman; two sisters, Velma Griffin and Emma Lee Boman, both of Quitman; and several nieces and nephews.


Alfred Alax Thomas

Graveside services for Alfred Alax Thomas were held February 27, 1993, at the family cemetery in Heidelberg. Rev. Sharber Smith officiated.
   Mr. Thomas, age 66, of Rt. 2 Heidelberg, passed away on February 25, 1993, at H. C. Watkins Hospital. He was a paratrooper in World War II and a member of the VFW.
   Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maggie M. Thomas, Heidelberg; two sons, Ronny Thomas, Lexington, S.C., and Ricky Thomas, Heidelberg; mother, Mrs. Grace Pope Thomas, Quitman; three brothers, Johnny Thomas, Columbia, S.C.; Gilbert Thomas, Heidelberg; Larry Thomas, Waynesboro; one sister, Linda Boulton, Baker, LA; and two grandchildren, Becky Dale Thomas and Gerri Lynn Thomas.


Clarence Mark Dunnam

Services for Clarence Mark Dunnam were held February 27, 1993, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Andrew's Chapel cemetery. Rev. Bill Riley and Rev. Buddy Braddock officiated.
   Mr. Dunnam, age 85, of Rt. 3 Quitman, passed away on February 25, 1993, at Riley's Hospital. He was employed with the Soil Conservation Service for twenty years and was a member of Andrew's Chapel.
   Survivors include his wife, Louise B. Dunnam, Quitman; and several nieces and nephews.


Lena Edwards Melton

Services for Lena Edwards Melton were held January 22, 1993, at Enterprise Baptist Church with burial in the Enterprise cemetery. Rev Taylor Wallace and Rev. Danny Bullock officiated.
   Mrs. Melton, age 79, of Enterprise, passed away on January 21, 1993, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
   Survivors include her husband, Emmett Lee Melton, Enterprise; a daughter, Kay Creel, Enterprise; four sons, Rube L. Melton, Cecil A. Melton, Wilbur E. Melton and Carl Steven Melton, all of Enterprise; three sisters, Bessie Johnson, Marion, AL; Gladys Edwards and Mildred Duncan, both of Selma, AL; a brother, Lawrence P. Edwards, Suttle, AL; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
   She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Maurice Melton.


Hilda Mae Griffith

Graveside services for Hilda Mae Griffith were held on March 2, 1993, at Antioch cemetery. Rev. Grady Crowell officiated.
   Mrs. Griffith, age 45, of Silver Hill, AL, passed away on February 28, 1993, at her residence.
   Survivors include her husband, James Griffith, Silver Hill, AL; three sons, Howard Ray Duell, Jr., Jimmy Dewayne Duell, and Michael Brant Duell, all of Morton, MS; two daughters, Brenda Marie McGrew and Betty Lee Evans, both of Quitman; one sister, Tena Logan, Shubuta; and six grandchildren.


Rudolph L. "R.L." Hemmingway

Services for Rudolph L. "R.L." Hemmingway, were held on February 20, 1993, at First Baptist Church in Stonewall with burial in the Stonewall cemetery. Dr. Albert McMullan and Rev. Rod Dixon Rishel of Gulfport officiated.
   Mr. Hemmingway, age 69, of Stonewall, passed away on February 18, 1993, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. A lifetime resident of Stonewall, he was a member of the First Baptist Church and was self-employed.
   Survivors include one son, Wayne Hemmingway, Gulfport; one daughter, Mrs. Cheryl Gibson, Butler, AL; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; a longtime loving companion Mary B. Long, Enterprise; and her daughter, Johnnie S. Powell, Mobile, AL; one brother, Howard Hemmingway, Lawton, OK; one sister, Mary Helen Smith, Stonewall; and several nieces and nephews.
   In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the scholarship fund for nurses at Citizens National Bank in Stonewall.
