  Miss Dorothy Lanell Smith, 23, daughter of Mrs. Virgie Smith of Route 3, Quitman, died Sept. 22 in a Meridian Hospital.
   Funeral services were held Sept. 23 at Northrup's chapel, with the Rev. Leon Chatham officiating. Interment followed in the Covington cemetery.
   She is survived by seven sisters, Mrs. Evie Lee Cook, Mrs. Bernice Reeves, Mrs. Earline Reeves, and Mrs. Sallie Mae Stewart of Quitman and Mrs. Geraldine Robinson of Mobile, Ala., and Misses Ruth and Faye Smith of Quitman; and three brothers, Ernest, L.W., and Ray Smith of Quitman.
   Pall bearers were W. C. Taylor, Luther Menasco, Thomas Menasco, H. L. Flowers, T. I. Dorough and Buddy Menasco.
   Walters Funeral Home was in charge.
