Edna Ruth Fatherree Carmichael

Services for Edna Ruth Fatherree Carmichael were held on Sunday, December 5, 1993, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Matheny, Rev. Joe Lofton and Rev. Jim Manning officiating. Burial was at McGowan's Chapel Cemetery.
   Mrs. Carmichael, age 72, passed away on Friday, December 3 1993, at her home in Carmichael. The Harmony Community native attended Harmony Public School in Clarke County and graduated from Pachuta High School. She attended Mississippi State College for Women and Mississippi Southern College. She taught school in Carmichael Public School for two years. She had been active in the Methodist Church. She and her family attended Edgewood Methodist Church in Columbus, GA., First United Methodist Church in Albany, GA., Dunwoody United Methodist Church in Dunwoody, GA., Roswell United Methodist Church in Roswell, GA., and Crandall United Methodist Church. At the time of her death she was a member of McGowan's Chapel United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardner and was a member of the Jackson Camelia Society.
   Survivors include her husband, Oscar Carmichael of Carmichael; a son, David Carmichael of Albany, GA; two daughters, Elizabeth Weaver and Teresa Jackson, both of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, A.P. Fatherree of Jackson, G.W. Fatherree of Huntsville, AL; one sisters, Irene Geiss of Alexandria, VA and eight grandchildren.
   The family has requested memorial contributions be made to McGowan's Chapel United Methodist Church, Rt. 3 Box 142, Quitman, MS 39355.
   Pallbearers include James D. Price, Jack Wallis, James Kennedy, Glen Smith, "Bo" Weaver and Robert Day.


Harry Lee Square

Services for SPC (RET) Harry Lee Square were held on Saturday, Nov. 27, 1993, at Jefferson Funeral Home in Oklahoma. Rev. Edward Davis officiated. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
   Survivors include: his wife, Mary; one son, Anthony of Detroit, MI; two daughters, Tommy Faye Brown of Lawton, OK, Barbara Ann Square of Detriot, MI; one stepson, M/Sgt. Kirk Darling of Honolulu, HI; his father, L.C. Square of Detroit, MI, his mother, Marie E. Johnson of Pachuta; three sisters, Joyce Combest Price of IL; Tommie Faye Campbell of TN, Carolyn Combest of IL; nine grandchildren.
   The United States Armed Forces served as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were: Robert Lee Jordan, Willie Galney, Bro. Jesse Stewart, Mistletoe Lodge No. 31 and Usher Board (Men). Flower bearers were: Usher board, Ladies of the Senior Choir and Lula Peyton (WMS).


Albert Carter

Services for Mr. Albert Carter of Detroit, MI formerly of Shubuta were held on Wednesday, November 17, 1993 in the chapel of James H. Cole Home in Detroit, MI with Rev. Frank Barnes, Jr. officiating. Interment was in Detroit Memorial Park in Redford, MI.
   Mr. Carter was born March 12, 1912 one of fifteen children to the late Mr. Charlie and Mrs. Annie Heidelberg Carter. Mr. Carter was reared in Shubuta and was the father of four children, three who preceded him in death, Annie Ruth, A.C. Carter and Albert Carter, Jr.
   Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Kreater Carter of Detroit, MI; one daughter, Mrs. Hattie Laura Walker of Detroit, MI; a step-daughter, Mrs. Otha Dickins of Detroit, MI; two brothers, Mr. Jessie (Fannie) Carter and Mr. Lee Andrew (Carrie) Carter of Shubuta; one sister, Mrs. Vivian (Ordia) Roberts of Shubuta; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
