Services for James "Jim" A. Harris of Inez, Texas, were held on June 25, 1994, at the Baptist Temple Church with Revs. Jack Hutson, Michael Shillings and William Lucas officiating. Graveside services followed at Memorial Park Cemetery under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #4146 American Legion, Marine Corp. and Disabled Veterans.
Mr. Harris, age 58, died June 22, 1994. He was born September 21, 1935 in Shubuta.
Mr. Harris served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. Served on the Vanderbilt Volunteer E.M.S.; as a scout master; served on the Industrial School Board, was a deacon at the Vanderbilt Baptist Church and retired after 25 years with Mobil Oil.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia "Pat" Swinney Harris, Inez, TX; mother, Gertrude Fleming Harris, Shubuta; two daughters, Teresa Reed, Victoria, TX; and Robin Smith, Corpus Christi, TX; two sons, James R. Harris, Palacios, TX; and Anthony "Tony" Harris, Inez, TX; a sister, Helen Lucas, Shubuta; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Robert Volkmer, David Mathiews, Joe Rodriquez, Allan Garza, Ralph Moody, K.C. Kimbrough, Steve Riberia, and Joe McCinney.
He was preceded in death by his father, James B. Harris and two brothers, Robert L. Harris and Ralph Harris.
