Earl Burt

Graveside services for Earl Burt were held April 29, 1994, at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Roger Burke officiated.
   Mr. Burt, age 77, of Meridian, died April 24, 1994, at Rush Hospital.
   Survivors include his wife, Nancy Burt, Meridian; son, Earl Roger Burt, Jr., Meridian; brother, Leroy Burt, DeSoto; and sister, Lois McWilliams, Quitman.


Betty Joy Johnson

Services for Betty Joy Johnson were held on April 27, 1994, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Archusa Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jimmy Sanders officiated.
   Mrs. Johnson, age 46, of Meridian, died April 25, 1994, at Rush Hospital.
   Survivors include her husband, Alvin Johnson, Meridian; two sons, Bobby E. Eaves and Kenny Wayne Eaves, both of Meridian; three daughters, Kathy L. Graham and Patricia Christopher, both of Meridian; and Becky Sisson, Philadelphia; and five grandchildren.


Canella Brown McCarty

Services for Canella Brown McCarty were held April 23, 1994, at Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
   Mrs. McCarty died April 19, 1994, at the University Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
   Sister Canella McCarty was born July 14, 1930 to the proud parents of Ollie and Zella (McCann) Brown of Shubuta. At an early age she joined New Oak Grove Baptist Church, she received Christ as her Lord and Savior during her illness.
   She united in holy matrimony to Mr. Charlie McCarty and unto this union, five children were born.
   She leaves this earth to join three sisters who preceeded her in death. Fronie M. Allen, Christine Walls, Argie M. Brown; one brother, Ollie G. Brown and one son-in-law, Kenrick Forbes; and one grandson, Brandon Gamblin.
   Survivors include a husband, Charlie McCarty; Three sons, Charles (Patricia) McCarty, Shubuta; Johnny (Evandy) McCarty, Chicago, Roger (Patricia) McCarty, Chicago; two daughters, Betty Forbes, Shubuta; Sherrie (Jimmie) Gamblin, Shubuta; mother and father, Ollie and Zella Brown, Shubuta; three brothers, Roosevelt (Drucilla as a sister) Brown, Shubuta; Lawrence (Katie) Brown, Shubuta; Preston Brown, Chicago; two sisters, Marie (Charlie) Scott, Chicago; Bertha (John) Pickens, Shubuta; Ernestine Brown (as a sister), Shubuta; a host of brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, thirteen grandchildren, Detra (as a daughter, Kimberley, Tracy (as a son), Kelly, Roger Jr., Brian, Kyle, Charles, III, Michael, Krystal, Jimetra, and Cameron, Delacey; three aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
