Cora Virginia Matheny Fairley

Services for Cora Virginia Matheny Fairley were held July 3, 1995, at Hebron United Methodist Church in Wayne County with burial in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Clarke County. Rev. James M. Matheny and Rev. Buddy Braddock officiated.
   Mrs. Fairley, 69, of Hattiesburg, died July 1, 1995, at Forrest General Hospital.
   Mrs. Fairley graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in music. She taught piano and public school music for many years. For the last 15 years, she was the housemother at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity at the University of Southern Mississippi. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Court Street United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg.
   Survivors include four daughters, Karen Fairley Squires, Starkville; Dawn Fairley Keeton, Iuka; Laura Nan Fairley, Auburn, Ala.; and Erin Margaret Fairley Patz, Seattle, Wa.; two brothers, Rev. Robert M. and Emily Matheny, Meridian; and Dr. Thad and Virginia Matheny, Rome, Ga.; a sister, Mary and John Finch, Dickenson, TX; a brother-in-law, Bobby and Christine Fairley, Quitman; eight grandchildren, Leslie Turner Scott, Mark Turner, Jr., Emily Squires, Jennifer Squires, Chelsea Squires, Walter Hugh Keeton, Cora Ellen Keeton and Carrie Elizabeth Keeton; one great-granddaughter, Abby Scott; several nieces and nephews.
   Honorary pallbearers were the men of Mississippi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity of the University of Southern Mississippi.
   In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hebron United Methodist Church, Pine Grove Baptist Church, or to your favorite charity.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. W. E. Fairley.


Willie Opal Bates

Services for Willie Opal bates were held July 5, 1995, at Rolling Creek Baptist Church with burial in the Rolling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Bill Riley officiated.
   Mrs. Bates, 75, of Stonewall, died July 3, 1995, at H. C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
   Survivors include two sons, Daniel Bates, Carriere, MS; and Josh Bates, Stonewall; a brother, Howard Walden, Harvey, LA; and two sisters, Mary Lucy Lewis, Stonewall and Eva Pierce, Harvey, LA.


William W. "Buddy" Hayes

Services for William W. "Buddy" Hayes were held July 7, 1995, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Doggett and Rev. Robert Cooper officiated.
   Mr. Hayes, 56, of Quitman, died July 6, 1995, at H. C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
   Survivors include his wife, Jennie V. Hayes, Quitman; and two sisters, Carolyn Fleming, Quitman; and Catherine Tyler, Alexandria, Virginia.
