Charles Russell Kauffman (1921-2014)

Charles Russell Kauffman was born on 26 April 1921 in Holtwood, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He died on 19 February 2014 in Pennsylvania. He married Evelyn Mae Hess on 5 October 1946 in Pennsylvania.

C. Russell Kauffman, 92, of Willow Street, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at LGH. He has been joined with his beloved wife, Evelyn (Hess) Kauffman, and his daughter, Nancy J. Suit.
Born April 26, 1921 in Holtwood, he was the son of the late Roy S. and Reba (Campbell) Kauffman. Russell and Evelyn celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage until her passing on November 24, 2005. Russell proudly served four years in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 to 1946. He was a Sergeant T/4, 544 Amphibious Engineer, 2nd Battalion in the South Pacific, Army Reserve 1946-1950. He retired from Armstrong World Industries in 1982 in the warehouse after 40 years of service. Russell and Evelyn enjoyed traveling through the United States, their cabin in Richfield, Snyder County and enjoyed their family gatherings.
His interests included deer hunting, attending auctions, tractor pulls, raising his ten foot high tomato plants, yard work and helping his neighbors. He was a member of Boehm's United Methodist Church and on the Board of the Rawlinsville Camp Meeting Association where he attended camp since childhood. He was known for his famous milkshakes during camp.
Russell was a wonderful Husband, Father, Pop-Pop and Pappy. He had a quick sense of humor and a big heart.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia A. Kerchner; wife of Gary L. of Leola; six granddaughters, Michelle M. Ashworth wife of Tim, Kimberly S. Hackman, companion of Dale Summers, Jr., Melissa A. Levering, Rachel J. Young companion of Ryan Paparo, Jennifer E. Wike, companion of Andy Vanbrookhoven, Heather R. Stief, wife of Christian; six great grandchildren, Bethany and Bailey Ashworth, Kyra and Kolby Hackman, Noah and Grace Young; and one brother, Carl Kauffman. He was also preceded in death by six siblings, Edward, Luther, Roy, Jay and Clair Kauffman and Helen Shenk.
Funeral Services will be held at the Boehm's United Methodist Church, 13 W. Boehm's Road, Willow Street, PA 17584 on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11 AM (Viewing 10-11 AM). Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery with Miliary Honors. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial Remembrances can be made in Russell's memory to the Boehm's United Methodist Church or Rawlinsville Camp Meeting Association.
