Evelyn H. Kauffman, 78, of Willow Street, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 24. Born July 22, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Frank B. and Helen (Groff) Hess. Mrs. Kauffman is survived by C. Russell Kauffman, her husband of 59 years on October 5.

Mrs. Kauffman had worked as a secretary for Roots Nurseries; was a 54 year member of Boehm's United Methodist Church, Boehm's Women's Society, Rawlinsville Church camp and its auxiliary. Mrs. Kauffman volunteered at Lancaster General Hospital, she enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and spending time at the mountains, especially the cabin in Snyder County.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Kauffman is survived by two daughters: Nancy J., wife of Robert W. Suit, of Lititz and Cindy A., wife of Gary L. Kerchner, of Leola; a brother F. Melvin, husband of Stella Hess, of Lancaster; six granddaughters and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kauffman was pre-deceased by one brother: Robert G. Hess and two sisters: Susan H. Aument and Catherine H. B. Frimd.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday at Boehm's United Methodist Church, 13 West Boehm's Rd., Willow Street with the Revs. Mary Elizabeth Hoskins and William Spiegelholder officiating. Viewing will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Gundel Funeral Home, 415 North Duke Street, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Boehm's United Methodist Cemetery.
