Mrs. Helen Catherine Hess, sixty, Conestoga R1, wife of Frank B. Hess, collapsed in a downtown Lancaster drug store Saturday and died at 10:35 a.m. at the Lancaster General Hospital.

Deputy coroner Dr. Gilbert N. Clime said death was caused by a coronary occulsion.

City police rushed Mrs. Hess to the hospital after she was stricken ill at the Hull Houghton drug store, 23 W. King St. Hospital attendants said she died within minutes after her arrival.

Born in Wilmington, Del., the daughter of the late Jacob S. and Catherine P. Harlan Groff, she spent almost all of her life in Lancaster county. She was a member of Boehm's Methodist Church, Willow Street.

Survivors besides her husband, include three daughters: Catherine, wife of Robert S. Bepple, and E. Susan, wife of Robert H. Aument, both of Millersville; and Evelyn M., wife of C. Russell Kauffman, Willow Street R1; two sons, Robert G. Hess, Conestoga R1; and F. Melvin Hess, Lancaster R6; one brother, Howard Groff, Wayne; and ten grandchildren.
