Evelyn Montagene Grayson

Services for Evelyn Montagene Grayson were held August 8, 1995, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Mont Rose Cemetery. Rev. Dennis Kennedy and Rev. Leland Goodman officiated.
   Mrs. Grayson, 68, of Quitman, died August 7, 1995, at H. C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
   Survivors include a husband, William Grayson, Quitman; two sons, Wayne Grayson and Frankie Grayson, both of Quitman; two daughters, Marie Sisson, Quitman; Nancy Ansley, Meridian; a sister, Christine Woodall, Jackson; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Fleming; and a son-in-law, Terral Fleming.


Rev. Joseph W. Williams

Services for Rev. Joseph W. Williams were held August 3, 1995, at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Ellison Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Eddie Painter and Rev. Paul Blanchard officiated.
   Rev. Williams, 68, of Louisville, died August 1, 1995, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
   He served in the U.S. Navy (WWII) for 38 years before his retirement. He was a retired Baptist minister and member of the Ellison Ridge Baptist Church.
   Survivors include his wife, Vermell Haney Williams, Louisville; two daughters, Mrs. Genevee Ireland, Wetumpka, Ala.; and Mrs. Patsy Freeman, Milton, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Thompson, Quitman; and Mrs. Jewell Livingston, New Orleans, La.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Allon Walton Smith

Services for Allon Walton Smith were held August 10, 1995, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Antioch Cemetery. Rev. W. F. "Pete" Shirley officiated.
   Mr. Smith, 61, of Quitman, died August 8, 1995, at his residence.
   Survivors include three brothers, Wilbern M. Smith and Leland A. Smith, both of Quitman; James Hayward Smith, Mobile, Ala.; three sisters, Elsie Varden, Lavada Mae Buffington and Ola Dale Ivy, all of Quitman; two step-sons, Paul Jones and Johnny Boutwell, both of Meridian; a step-daughter, Linda Page, Meridian; three step-grandchildren; and a cousin, William Murff, Quitman.


John Allen McKenney

Services for John Allen McKenny were held August 11, 1995, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Elim Cemetery. Dr. Brian Scarbrough officiated.
   Mr. McKenney, 57, of Quitman, died August 9, 1995, at the V. A. Hospital in Jackson.
   Survivors include a daughter, Susun Renae Tackett, Quitman; and a grandchild, Amy Nicole Tackett, Quitman.


Infant Erika Shanell Rietzke

Services for Erika Shanell Rietzke were held August 11, 1995, at Snell Church of God with burial in the church cemetery.
   Erika, 4 months old, died August 9, 1995, at her residence.
   Survivors include her father, Donald Harris, Louisiana; mother, Barbara Rietzke, Quitman; a sister, Abigail Johnson, Quitman; grandparents, Dorothy Rietzke, Quitman; Richard Rietzke, Farmingdale, N. J.; great-grandmother, Jean Reed, Quitman; and aunts, Teresa Johnston, Monroe, Louisiana; and Melissa Baldwin, Meridian.


Leamon C. Cooley, Sr.

Graveside services for Leamon C. Cooley, Sr., were held August 15, 1995, at Zion Rest Cemetery in Wayne County. Rev. Dennis Coats officiated.
   Mr. Cookey, 81, of Heidelberg, died August 13, 1995, at Country Care Home in Heidelberg. Cooley, formerly of Quitman, was retired from the Clarke County School System. He served in WW II and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Quitman.
   Survivors include a son, Cliff Cooley, Pascagoula; three brothers, Leo Cooley, Mobile, Ala.; Selby Cooley, Laurel; and Odell Cooley, Heidelberg; a sister, Eloise Huddleston, Sandersville; and two half-sisters, Annie Baker, Gulfport and Zella Gatlin, Jackson; and two granddaughters, Susan Cooley and Jennifer Cooley.
   Memory Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
