Aubrey Cecil Jones

Services for Aubrey Cecil Jones were held August 17, 1995, at Ephesus Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery in Forest, Mississippi. Rev. Jones, 60, of Springfield, Vermont, was a native of Scott County before moving to Vermont 12 years ago. He was a southern Baptist pastor for 30 years and was a member of Precisin Valley Baptist Church in Springfield. He organized and built Precisin Valley Baptist Church were he was pioneer pastor for 12 years and served on the board of directors on New England Baptist Association. He was an avid collector and rebuilder of John Deere tractors as well as a woodscraftsman for 30 years. Rev. Jones was a seven year survivor of a heart transplant.
   Rev. Jones served as pastor at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Quitman for two years.
   Survivors include his wife, Peggy Anne Breland Jones, Springfield, Vermont; three daughters, Angela Wilkes, Benton; Pam McCaffrey, Shaw, MS; and Kathy Cook, Newberry, Florida; mother, Trudie Brantley Jones, Forest; four brothers, Andrew Jones, Joe Jones and Rev. Kenneth Jones, all of Forest; and Lonnie Jones, Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Reeves, Lena, MS; and Rita Waggoner, Forest; and four grandchildren.
   Memorials may be made to Precisin Valley Baptist Church P.O. Box 407, North Springfield, Vermont or to your favorite charity.
   Serving as pallbearers were Harold Jones, Mark Jones, James Reeves, Bill Hudson, Lonnie Williams, and Mike Langley. Honorary pallbearers were Russell Scruggs, Floyd Higginbotham, Bill Baker, Jay Antoniewich, Sharber Smith, Sam Langley, Clyde Little, Hugh Poole, Holmes Carlisle and Bobby Wood.


Lettie Mae Smith

Services for Lettie Mae Smith were held August 17, 1995, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Antioch Cemetery. Rev. Lester Griffin officiated.
   Mr. Smith, 84, of Quitman, died August 15, 1995, at Archusa Convalescent Center in Quitman.
   Survivors include a husband, Buford Smith, Quitman; two sons, Ray Smith, Quitman; and Reece Smith, Hattiesburg; two daughters, Jeanette Smith, Quitman; and Geneva Satcher, Destin, Florida; a sister, Pearlee Smith, Quitman; nine grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.


Langford Clyde (Billy) Lewis

Services for Langford Clyde Lewis were held August 21, 1995, at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Buddy Petty and Rev. Weldon Greer officiated.
   Mr. Lewis, 63, of Rose Hill, died August 20, 1995, at his residence.
   Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Anne Lewis, Rose Hill; two sons, Wade Lewis and Tracey "Bear" Lewis, both of Rose Hill; a daughter, Billie Anne Ulmer, Rose Hill; and two sisters, Louise Little, Fellowship; and Mazie Lewis, Rose Hill; and seven grandchildren.


Billy Lavelle Thornhill

Services for Billy Lavelle Thornhill were held August 22, 1995, at Wright's Funeral home Chapel with burial in the Antioch Cemetery. Rev. Johnny Mosley officiated.
   Mr. Thornhill, 62, of Shubuta, died August 17, 1995, in Rufus, Oregon.
   Survivors include his wife, Rosie Thornhill, Shubuta; a brother, Houston Thornhill, Shubuta; three sisters, Merle Thornhill, Shubuta; Dorothy May, Meridian; and Betty Brengard, Anchorage, Alaska; and several nieces and nephews.


Leonard Lee Brown

Services for Leonard Lee Brown were held August 18, 1995, at Enterprise Baptist Church with Rev. Taylor Wallace and Rev. Arlis Nichols officiating.
   Mr. Brown, 89, of Enterprise, died August 16, 1995, at his residence.
   Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lelia Brown, Enterprise; two daughters, Barbara Brown Nichols, Harperville, MS; and Judy Speed, Enterprise; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
