James Howard Hearn

James Howard Hearn, 66, of Quitman, MS, passed away on January 29, 2014, at Rush Hospital in Meridian, MS.
     He was born on March 23, 1947, to Julian and Lillie (Rolison) Hearn in Newton County, MS.
     James is survived by his wife, Tommie Hearn; sons, James Brandon (Mae) Hearn and Matthew Ryan (Leah) Hearn; grandchildren, Elizabeth Mae Hearn and Noah Matthew Hearn; and sister, Bert Hearn.
     James is a United States Air Force Veteran serving in both the Vietnam war and Desert Storm.
     Graveside services were held on Friday, January 31, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at the McGowan's Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Kennedy officiating.
     Pallbearers were Sidney Hearn, Scottie Hearn, Marvin Hearn, Steve Waller, Paul Davis and Tommy Carter.

Richard Gary Hearn

Richard Gary Hearn, 47, of Shubuta, MS, passed away on January 30, 2014, at Anderson's Hospital.
     He was born on January 29, 1967, to Henry and Emma (Tyler) Hearn at Quitman, MS.
     Richard is survived by his wife, Sue Hearn; sons, John Thomas (Brandy) Woodall and Chris Smith; brother, Sidney (Janet) Hearn, four grandchildren and two nephews.
     Visitation was held Saturday, February 1, 2014, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Coopers' Chapel Methodist Church of Quitman.
     Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 1, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Cooper's Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Wesley Pepper officiating. Burial took place in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
     Pallbearers were Alan Mathis, Mickey Long, Vince Hinson, Brandy Hearn, Matt Hearn and Scott McGraw. Honorary Pallbearers were Lee Pruitt and Joe Varner.

Ruby Doris Jacks

Ruby Doris Jacks, 88, of Quitman, MS, passed away on January 30, 2014, at Anderson's Hospital.
     She was born on April 13, 1925, to Thomas and Ozella (Beach) Hollingsworth in Wayesboro, MS.
     Ruby is survived by her sons, Roger Jacks and Gene Jacks; daughters, Doris Zdenek and Joyce Ivey; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvester Jacks; daughter, Diane Lynn Chancellor; grandson, Joseph David Ivey; father, Thomas Washington Hollingsworth; and mother, Ozella Hollingsworth.
     Visitation was held Saturday, February 1, 2014, after 5:30 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman.
     Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 2, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at the Rolling Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Ronnie Cooper and Rev. Grady Crowell, officiating. The body was taken to the church one hour prior to the service for visitation. Burial took place in the Rolling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sarah Crane Spickard

Graveside services for Sarah Crane Spickard were held Friday, January 31, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Coats officiating. Webb Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
     Mrs. Spickard, 85, of Quitman, MS, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at her residence in Quitman.
     Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Spickard; and son, James A. Spickard, III of Quitman.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, James Asa Spickard, Jr.

Richard Leon Smith

Richard Leon Smith, 86, of Stonewall, MS, passed away on January 28, 2014. He was a veteran of WWII.
     He was born September 3, 1927, to Charles M. and Mae M. (Daly) Smith. Richard married Betty L. (Crider) Smith on May 17, 1947, until her death March 25, 1998.
     Survivors include daughter, Cheryl M. Smith of Stonewall; and sons, Richard (Carolyn) Smith, Kokomo, IN, and Steve Smith, Frankfort, IN; 7 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
     He is preceded in death by his son, David Smith, Frankfort, IN.
     No services will be held. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of the cremation.

Duggar "Doug" Eugene Roberts, Jr.

Duggar "Doug" Eugene Roberts, Jr. 74, of Quitman, passed away on February 3, 2014, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
     He was born on April 28, 1939, to Duggar and Viola (Causey) Roberts in Citronelle, AL.
     Doug is survived by his wife, Beth Roberts; son, Dustin Leon Roberts; daughters, Susan Annette Chatham, Vicky Diane (Michael) VanKerun, Connie (Jeff) Reid, Donna (Steve) Harper and Mandy (Michael) Griffin; 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Becky (Hank) Gandy and Lawriece Durham and 1st wife, Helen Green.
     He was preceded in death by his father, Duggar Eugene Roberts, Sr.; mother, Viola Causey Norsworthy; sister, Mae Jewel Gibson; step-father, Leon Norsworthy; and granddaughter, Dena Marie Lynn Reid.
     Visitation will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014, 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, MS.
     Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Glen Lafferty and Rev. Larry Browning officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will take place in the Archusa Memorial Gardens.
     Pallbearers will be Greg Fairchild, Ira Allen, Joseph Allen, Chris Evans, Tony Lewis and Walter Lafferty.
