Jim R. Reese Jackson

Jim Randolph (Pop Jim) Reese, Sr., 90, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 5-8pm Wednesday, May 12, 2010, and 1 pm until the 3pm. Funeral service Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Rolling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Stonewall, MS.
     Mr. Reese was born September 11, 1919 in Fayette, AL to Wilson Benjamin Reese and Alma Nichols Reese. He had lived in the Jackson area since 1977, having come from Vicksburg, and he was self employed in the construction business. He also was a member of the MS Blue Grass Association.
     Survivors include his sons, Jim Reese, Jr., Ronnie Reese, Dennis Reese and Lee Reese (Catherine); daughters, Sandra Everett Fletcher (Monty) and Peanut Smith (Billy R.); grandchildren, Lynn Hightower, Tonya and Angela Reese, Billy Reese, Jimmy Reese III, Cliff Reese, Julie Koestler, Emily Reese, Abby Reese, Sara Reese, JoAnna Reese, Jeremy Reese, Scotty Reese, and Garrett Reese.
     In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the East Quitman Fire Department.

Lore Bell Fleming

Lora Bell (Harris) Fleming, age 91, born March 19, 1919 in Crandall, MS, passed away peacefully at her home in Pascagoula, MS, Saturday, May 15, 2010. Mother to her Children-Grandmother to her Grandchildren-Granny to her Great and Great, Great-Grandchildren.
     Mrs. Fleming was an excellent cook and baker known for her pecan pies, coconut cakes, and German chocolate cakes. A stay at home Mother until her children were grown and at that time she became employed as an alternations seamstress at Brumfield's Department Store, Pascagoula, MS. She was very active in her church, Eastlawn United Methodist Church and loved all the members of her Ladies Sunday School class. She enjoyed doing anything with a needle; quilt making, needle point, embroidery, crocheting, and especially sewing.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Morris Fleming, her parents, Fred and Bessie (Kemp) Harris and two brothers, Johnny and Noel Harris. Her survivors include two sons: Fred H. Fleming of Virginia Beach, VA, Douglas R. Fleming and Carlotta of Moss Point, MS; daughter; Willa Fleming Witchen and Leo of Pascagoula, MS; grandchildren: Sarah C. Patrick, of Helena, MS, Eric D. Fleming and Renee' of Chelsea, AL, Wendy D. Witchen of Pascagoula, MS, Wanda Witchen Turner and Randy of Whiteman A.F.B., MO; great-grandchildren: Anthony Copeland and Brandi, Charlia Jo Buehl, Alecia M. Patrick, Heather Young and Josh, Jonathan Poole, Kayley Turner, William Turner, Eli Turner, Fallon Turner; great, great-grandchildren: Alyssa Copeland and Austin Copeland.
     The family would like to express a thank you to Nan Briesemeister for delivering tapes of the church services each week which kept her in touch with her church. And a special thank you for the wonderful care given by the nurses of Hospice of Light.      Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 9:00-11:00AM at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment followed at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
