Lizzie Cook (1917-2000)

Lizzie Cook was born on 26 August 1917 in Mississippi. She died on 11 February 2000 in Iowa.

Lizzie C. O'Neal, 82, formerly of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Parkview Manor in Wellman of complications from Alzheimer's Disease.
   Services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs. Burial will be in the Crestlawn Cemetery in Ocean Springs.
   Visitation will be from6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Parkview Manor and sent to the family home. Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of local arrangements.
   Mrs. O'Neal was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Lake Como, Miss., to Walter Winston and Mary Annie Waldrup Cook. She married Edward Eli O'Neal on Nov. 13, 1936. She worked for Ferson Optics for many years and before she retired, at Eckard Drugs, both in Ocean Springs.
   She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ocean Springs, where she was active in the church choir, a member of the church "Go Getters" organization, and was  a Sunday school teacher for many years in the primary department. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Adah Chapter No. 49 in Ocean Springs. She received her 50-year pin and plaque in 1997. She and her husband also received recognition for their 50 plus years of residency in Ocean Springs.
   Survivors include on daughter, Sandra and her husband, Steve Schlote, of Solon; one son, Bobby O'Neal of Meraux, La.; five grandchildren, Sonja Schlote Watters of Marion, Ann Schlote Romo of Coralville, Eric Schlote of Iowa City, Donna O'Neal McClain of Picayune, Miss., and Michael O'Neal of Gulfport, Miss.; and five great-grandchildren.
   Her husband in 1993, two brothers, two sisters, and one nephew died earlier.
