William Sloan Talley was born on 29 January 1922 in Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware. He died on 25 August 2003 in Jacksonville, Florida. He married Barbara Arlene Rinker on 6 April 1946 in Claymont, New Castle, Delaware.

Age 81, of Yulee, FL passed away Monday, August 25, 2003 at the Earl B. Hadlow Center of Community Hospice in Jacksonville, FL.
   A native of Claymont, DE, Mr. Talley has previously resided in Hayesville, NC since 1981 before moving to Yulee, FL in April 2001. He served during World War II in the United States Navy from 1941 until 1945 working as an airplane mechanic serving in Guam and the Pacific theater throughout the war. Following his honorable discharge he was self employed as a carpenter all during his life until his retirement.
   He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ruth E. Talley of Yulee, FL; 2 sons, Paul W. Sherwood, Jr. of Bear, DE and Dale W. Sherwood of Fernandina Beach, FL; 2 daughters, Lynne D. Mahek of Newark, DE and Gayle E. Sherwood of Fernandina Beach, FL; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice of N.E. Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257.
