Samuel Vester Davis

Services for Samuel Vester Davis, age 80, of Rt. 1 Quitman, were held on October 11, 1991, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Dennis Coats officiated.
   Mr. Davis passed away on October 9, 1991, at H.C. Watkins Hospital.
   He was a longtime member and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church.
   He is survived by two sons, Mr. Sam Davis, Wetumpka, Ala.; and Mr. John Davis, Stonewall; one daughter, Miss Carole Davis, Jackson; two brothers, Mr. Thomas Alson Davis; Mr. W.L. (Bill) Davis, both of Houston, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Gibson, Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
   Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church in Quitman.


Owen Clement "O.C." Evons

Services for O.C. Evons, age 69, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, were held on October 2, 1991, at Fisher and Pou Funeral Home in Pensacola, Fla., with burial in Boy View Cemetery.
   O.C. passed away on September 28, 1991, at his home in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
   He was a retired insurance adjuster. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gulf Breeze where he served as Deacon. Mr. Evons was a native of Elwood; a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and served in the medical corps.
   Survivors include his wife, Vera Adam Evons, Gulf Breeze; two daughters, Glenda Guthrie, Nashville, Tenn.; Debbie Gheaquiare, Pensacola, Fla.; three grandsons, one granddaughter, one brother, Chester Evons, Bellville, Ill.; and three sisters,Ruby Miller, Eula Parker, Quitman; and Betty Creel, Birmingham, Ala. A host of nephews and nieces.


Jessie F. Chestnut

Graveside services for Jessie F. Chestnut, age 90, of Quitman, were held on October 14, 1991, at Odd Fellows Cemetery with Dr. Rex Yancey officiated. Wright's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
   Mr. Chestnut passed away on October 12, 1991, at his residence.
   He is survived by one son, Earl N. Chestnut, Quitman; two brothers, Harvey Chestnut, Quitman; Claude Chestnut, Laurel; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.


Clarence McNair Wood, Sr.

Services for Clarence McNair Wood, Sr., age 87, of Rt. 3 Quitman, were held on October 15, 1991, at Antioch Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. T.E. Williamson and Rev. Pete Shirley officiated. Wright's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
   Mr. Wood passed away on October 13, 1991, at H.C. Watkins Hospital.
   He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Wood, Quitman; two sons, Clarence Wood, Jr. Key Largo, Fla.; Donnie Tucker, Quitman; five daughters, Myrtie Mae Williams, Meridian; Vivian Godwin, Autry Dickerson, Doris Schrimpshire, Betty Crump, all of Quitman; one brother, Clinton Wood, Quitman; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
