Issac "Ike" H. McCarty

Services for Issac "Ike" H. McCarty, age 85, of OKC, were held December 18, 1990, at May Avenue Methodist Church.
   Mr. McCarty passed away Saturday, December 15, 1990, after a brief illness.
   He was born in Quitman, Miss., on February 27, 1905. He was owner of McCarty Cigar Company until his retirement in 1965. An avid golfer, he was a member of the National Association of Left Handed Golfers and played in tournaments throughout the nation. He was also a member of the India Temple Shrine, and May Avenue Methodist Church.
   Mr. McCarty is survived by his wife, Pat; sons, Dan McCarty, John McCarty, Aspen, Co.; Jim McCarty, Liberal, Ks.; Mike McCarty, Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren, Michele McCarty, Houston, Tx.; Kelli Ryan, Kyli and Justin McCarty, Liberal, Ks.; sisters, Sarah McCarty, Quitman, Miss.; Katie Lee Waddell, Mary Walker, Ruth Keen, Hattiesburg.
   He is preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, and one granddaughter.


Terral Lynn Downs

Services for Terral Lynn Downs, age 27, of Rt. 4, Quitman, were held December 24, 1990, at Wrights Funeral home Chapel with burial in Archusa Memorial Gardens. Rev. Mark Thead and Rev. John Edwards officiated.
   Mr. Downs passed away on December 22, 1990.
   Mr. Downs is survived by his wife, Lisa Downs, Quitman; one step-son, Joey Glass, Quitman; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Downs, Rt. 1, Meridian; one brother, Richard Downs, Stonewall; one sister, Tayna Carney, Meridian; grandmothers, Ruby Blackwell, Stonewall; and Vermell Downs, Enterprise.


Jack Smiley Thomas

Services for Jack Thomas, age 54, of Rt. 3, Quitman, were held December 22, 1990, at Wrights Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Harmony Cemetery. Rev. David Jay and Rev. Buddy Braddock officiated.
   Mr. Thomas passed away on December 20, 1990.
   He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy, a member of the Harmony Baptist Church where he served as Church Clerk, Treasurer, and Deacon, and was employed by V.A. Souls, Inc.
   Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Jimmie Dale Thomas; two sons, Clarke Thomas, Fullerton, Ca.; Jay Thomas, Conway, Ark.; one daughter, Jayne Thomas Riley, Starkville, Ms.; mother, Lucille Thomas, Quitman; one brother, John D. Thomas, Pensacola, Fla.; one sister, Ruth McDonald, Quitman; one grandson, Andrew Thomas, Fullerton, Ca.


Claudie Dee Richardson

Services for Claudie Dee Richardson, age 80, of Stonewall, were held December 21, 1990, at Wrights Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Stonewall Cemetery. Rev. Ricahrd Coats and Dr. Albert McMullan officiated.
   Mr. Richardson passed away on December 19, 1990, at H.C. Watkins Hospital.
   He is survived by his wife, Nellie Richardson; two sons, Henry Earl Richardson, Crestview, Fla.; Daniel Reginald Richardson, Stonewall; two daughters, Ester Faye Wilson, Montgomery, Ala.; Lula Pearl Coats, Hattiesburg; one brother, O.C. Richardson, Meridian; one sister, Ethel Boykin, Louisville; eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.


Edmund Julius Phillips, Sr.

Services for Edmund Julius Phillips, age 82, of Quitman, were held on December 21, 1990, at St. Mary Episcopal Church with burial in Odd Fellow Cemetery. Rev. Walter Hurt officiated. Wrights Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
   Mr. Phillips passed away on December 18, 1990, at H.C. Watkins Hospital.
   He is survived by two sons, Carl Keeton Phillips, Miami, Fla.; Edmund Julius Phillips, Jr., Newton; one daughter, Judith Phillips Fulton, Naperville, Ill.; half-brother, Nathaniel G. Phillips, Jr., Chattanooga, Tenn.; four grandsons, Carl Phillips, Hattiesburg; John Phillips, Mark Phillips, Miami, Fla.; Troy Phillips, Hunterville, Tx.; four granddaughters, Kimberly Ann Phillips, Susan Keeton Phillips, Rachel Elizabeth Phillips, Hattiesburg; Tracy Fulton March, Richmond, Va.


James Edward Long

Services for James Edward Long, age 88, of Rt. 3, Quitman, were held on December 22, 1990, at Wrights Funeral Home Chapel with burial in East Pleasant Grove Community. Rev. Wesley Slay and Rev. Rex Yancey officiated.
   Mr. Long passed away on December 19, 1990, at his residence.
   He is survived by two sons, James W. Long, Carson City, Nevada; Adrain L. Long, Houston, Texas; one daughter, Juanita L. Wright, Quitman; two sisters, Ada Mae Griffin, Meridian; Pauline Pickard, Quitman; eight grandchildren.
