John Thomas McArthur, Jr.

Services for John Thomas McArthur, Jr., were held September 2, 1992, at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Rev. Russell LuQuire officiated with burial following at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Starkville.
   Mr. McArthur, age 57, passed away September 1, 1992, of heart failure at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
   Mr. McArthur was the only son of the late Johnnie and Linnie McArthur, Sr., of Philadelphia. He was one of the outstanding band directors in Mississippi having taught in Tylertown, Macon, Waynesboro, Starksville and presently in West Point. Bands under his direction won numerous awards in state, national and international competition. A highly regarded member of his profession, Mr. McArthur had served as president of the M.M.E.A. Band Division, President of Phi Beta Mu and State Chairman for American School Band Directors Association. He had been accorded the honor of being named outstanding band master by his associates.
   He is survived by his wife, Edythe of West Point; two sons, Jay McArthur of Quitman and Christ McArthur of Houston, MS.
   Kent Sills, Ron Williams, Charlie Saul, David Lance, Gerald O'Neil, and Mickey Grove served as pallbearers.
   The family requests that memorials be made to a favorite charity.


Roy Thelbert Little

Services for Roy Thelbert Little were held on September 6, 1992, at Fellowship Baptist Church with burial in the Fellowship Cemetery. Rev. Buddy Petty and Rev. Taylor Wallace officiated.
   Mr. Little, age 85, of Rt. 1 Enterprise, passed away on September 4, 1992, at H.C. Watkins Hospital.
   He is survived by one step-daughter, Gloris Cooper, Meridian; two brothers, Clyde Little and Claude Little, Fellowship; three sisters, Eunice Cagle, Meridian; Allie Walker, Newton; Flora Mae Reynolds, Fellowship; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
