Charlie Cox (1941-2016)

Charlie Cox was born on 3 January 1941 in Enterprise, Clarke, Mississippi. He died on 17 May 2016 in Mississippi.

 Charles Cox Jr., known to all as Pete, 75, of Quitman, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2016.
   The funeral service was held on Thursday, May 19, 2016, 1:00 pm at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial immediately after at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pastor Forrest "Bo" Bankston of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will officiate.
   Visitation was held Thursday, May 19, 2016, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Quitman, Mississippi.
   Pallbearers were Ray Mosley, Kenny Mosley, Steve Neely, Andrew Boone, Jonathan Ivey, and Billy Ivey.
   Pete was born in Enterprise, MS on January 3, 1941. He graduated from Quitman High School  He served as a police officer in Quitman and Ridgeland, MS for 14 years, a well as being a long-time employee of Clarke County Co-Op. He was a small business owner for a number of years.
   He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 25 years of service. Pete was an avid hunter, fisherman, and farmer, never happier than when he was in a deer stand, next to a lake, or on his tractor. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for 60 years, where he sang in the choir, and often performed as a soloist in church productions.
   Pete is survived by his wife of 55 years, Katie Avera Cox; children, Greg Cox (Julie); Cynuanne Thompson (Walter); grandchildren, Christoper Thompson, Cayleb Thompson, Matthew Cox, Meredith Cox, Jullian Etheridge, and Olivia Etheridge; great-grandchildren, Makenah Cox and Ember Little; brother, Irby Cox; sisters, Ruby Mosley, Christine Poole, Catherine Mosley, and Judy Lucas.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Nora Cox; brothers, Richard Cox, Jack Cox, and Buddy Cox; and sisters, Nora Williams, Pauline Ray, Eula Thomas, and Velma Culpepper.
