John Sidney Dew (1918-1978)

John Sidney Dew was born on 27 September 1918 in Mississippi. He died on 1 May 1978. He is buried in Antioch Cemetery in Quitman, Clarke, Mississippi.

   Services for John S. Dew, Sr., 62 were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Antioch Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Talley and the Rev. Ossie Long officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
   Survivors include his wife, Mary Dew, Meridian; seven sons, James Dew, Pass Christian; John Jr., Billy, Donald, and Willie, of Meridian; Joe Dew, Quitman; and Jack Dew, Hobbs, N.M.; four daughters, Mary Thead, Meridian, Elaine Reed, Hobbs, N.M.; Ann Easterwood, Lavero, Tex.; and Kay Chivers, Prentiss; two brothers, Clyde Dew, Quitman; and Cecil Dew, Stonewall; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Hayes, Mrs. Estell Cooper, and Mrs. Billie Jean Ivy, of Quitman; thirty grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
