Mrs. Avera, 82, of Rt. 4 Quitman, died August 23, 1994, at The University Hospital in Jackson.
Survivors include her husband, George Avera, Quitman; a son, George B. Avera, Quitman; two daughters, Deborah, Eubanks, Navarre, FL; and Katie Cox Swanner, Quitman; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Sammie Margaret McCarty

Services for Sammie Margaret McCarty were held August 29, 1994, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the McGowan Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Parker Chancelor officiated.
Mrs. McCarty, 75, of Enterprise, died August 27, 1994, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Clarke County and active in civic and community affairs.
Survivors include three sons, Robert H. McCarty; Dr. William H. McCarty and Dr. Jack C. McCarty, all of Starkville; one daughter, Margaret Jane McCarty, Ocean Springs; two sisters, Julia Lois Lightsey and Charlotte Lightsey, both of Meridian; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. McCarty, Sr.
Joseph Eugene Glass

Mr. Glass, 78, of Quitman, died August 27, 1994, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include wife, Mrs. Sue Glass, Quitman; two sons, Billy Gene Glass, DeSoto and Michael Glass, Enterprise; three daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Chatham, Chalemette, LA; Miss Margaret Glass, Quitman; and Mrs. Barbara McCarty, Oklahoma City, OK; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Survivors incldue her parents, Jason Patrick and Jana Lea Watts, Pascagoula; maternal grandparents, John and Jean Brannon, Pascagoula; paternal grandparents Pat and Betty Watts, Jr., Pascagoula; paternal great-grandmother, Vivian Watts Davis, Pascagoula; great aunt, Merle Ivy, Pascagoula; and great-great aunt, Eloise McClinton, Quitman.
Carrie Josephine Atchley

Services for Carrie Josephine Atchley will be held on August 31, 1994, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Rev. Doc Williamson, Rev. Richard Williams and Rev. Billy Whitaker officiated.
Mrs. Atchley, 96, of Shubuta, died August 27, 1994, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of Beason College and a former school teacher in Clarke County.
Survivors include a son, Bob Atchley, Florida; three daughters, Ouida Winslett, Meridian; Berma Ball, San Antonio, TX; and Dorothy Harritt, Shubuta; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
