Norma Elizabeth Bechtold (1922-2017)

Norma Elizabeth Bechtold was born on 6 October 1922 in Pequea, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She died on 8 September 2017 in Pennsylvania. She married Robert Groff Hess on 8 September 1945 in Pennsylvania.

Norma E. (Bechtold) Hess, 94, of Conestoga, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at St. Anne's Retirement Community, Columbia. She was the wife of the late Robert G. Hess, who died on August 9, 1998. There were married on September 2, 1945.
   A homemaker, Mrs. Hess had worked at the former Mailman's/Maxwell's Department Store and Poser's. Earlier in life, she had worked at the former Hamilton Watch Company.
   Born October 6, 1922 in Pequea Township, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Margaret (Goss) Bechtold. A Christian, Mrs. Hess was a life member of the West Willow United Methodist Church, Willow Street.
   Surviving are her three sons; J. Lester Hess married to Nancy, of Lancaster, Kenneth B. Hess married to Linda, of Pequea, Harold W. Hess married to Eileen, of Millersville; two grandchildren; David C.  Hess married to Michelle and Diana L. Hess and four great-granddaughters; Samantha, Isabel, Gabriella and Marcella. She was also preceded in death by her three siblings; Anna Williams, Paul Bechtold and Donald Bechtold.
   The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the caring staff at St. Anne's Retirement Community for their compassion given to their mother.
   Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral to be held at the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, 320 Blue Rock Road, Route 999, Millersville, PA 17551 on Friday afternoon, September 15, 2017 at 2:30PM. (Viewing 1-2:30PM). Interment will be held in the River Corner Mennonite Cemetery, Conestoga, PA.
