John B. Whitton (1847-1927)

John B. Whitton was born in August 1847 in Pennsylvania and died in March 1927 in New Jersey. He married Sarah Countess on 2 September 1869 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. John was a Methodist minister.

Funeral services for Rev. John B. Whitton, a former pastor of Old First Church, West Long Branch, who died on Monday, were held Thursday at Palmyra, where he lived since his retirement in 1925. He was over 80 years old, and had been a member of the New Jersey Conference since 1886. Besides his wife, a son, Rev. Charles D. Whitton, and a daughter, Miss Reba Whitton, survive.
   Rev. Mr. Whitton was pastor of Old First Church from 1914 to 1917, and afterward served as pastor at Sea Bright and Englishtown. He was also pastor of the Oceanic Church in 1909, and was a member of the Masonic fraternity.
