Lena E. Harlan was born on 4 June 1873 in Delaware. She died on 12 January 1955 in Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware from carcinoma of bladder. She married Thomas J. Hume on 5 October 1892 in Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware.

Mrs. Lena Harlan Jefferis, 81, widow of Frank W. Jefferis, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth H. Maltman, 214 South Union Street, after a long illness.
A native of Wilmington, Mrs. Jefferis lived in the Union Park section for many years until 1947 when she moved to Belle, W. Va. She returned here last May. She was a member of the Belle, W. Va., Presbyterian Church and formerly of Silverbrook Methodist Church.
Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Maltman, are two brothers, George Harlan of Wilmington and William F. Harlan of Tampa, Fla., and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Chambers of Wilmington and Mrs. E. W. Burlin of Tampa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the John W. Spicer Funeral Home, Twenty-fourth and Market Streets, with the Rev. Roy L. Tawes of Silverbrook Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call tomorrow night at the funeral home.
