Mrs. Ethel M. Hughes, 59, wife of Edward H. Hughes, 211 Colonial Avenue, Colonial Heights, died Wednesday afternoon in the Wilmington General Hospital.
Born and raised in Wilmington, she was active in the Women's Republican Club of Wilmington. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin L. and Bessie Thompson.
In addition to her husband she is survived by four children, Mrs. Samuel Stewart, Mrs. Grace Myers, both of Wilmington, Mrs. Jane Barker of McDaniel Crest, and Edward J. Hughes, Jr., of Kiamensi Heights; a brother, Harlan L. Thompson, Lyndalia; a sister, Mrs. Roy G. Lynam, Gwinhurst; and five grandchildren.
The Rev. Paul Miller, pastor of Hanover Presbyterian Church, will officiate at the funeral at the Spicer-Mulltkin Home, Twenty-fourth and Market Streets, at 11 a.m. Monday. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday after 7.
