Grace Mildred Hughes was born on 27 October 1922 in Wilmington, New Castle Delaware. She died on 22 November 2013 in Delaware. She married Matthew Vincent Myers (Meyer) on 30 December 1943 in Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware.

Grace H. Meyer, age 91, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 in the presence of her loving family. Grace was a lifelong resident of Wilmington, Delaware, the daughter of the late Ethel and Edward Hughes of Wilmington, Delaware. She graduated from A.I. DuPont High School. She was a homemaker and worked at Hercules Powder Company during World War II. She was an ardent supporter of her country and loved animals, adopting dozens during her life. Grace contributed to many charities including Veteran's organizations and the Lakota Sioux children at St. Joseph's Indian School. She was a member of Holly Oak Calvary Methodist Church. Grace treasured the time she spent with her family above all else.

   Grace was married to Matthew V. Meyer III who preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her ister, Marian Stewart and her husband, Samuel. She is survived by her best friend and sister, Jane Barker, and her brother, Edward Hughes and his wife Judy; her children Judith M. Bagdon and her husband Ronald with whom she lived, as well as her son, James M. Meyer and his wife Precy, her grandchildren, Tamara Schoell and her husband Kurt, and Zachary Bagdon and his wife Amanda, and her grandsons James and David Meyer; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her affectionate companion Ernie, her cat.

   The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice and Elder Care for the compassionate care and comfort that they provided for Grace. They would like to thank her aides Patti, Lena, Lydia, Marlene, Rolanda, Bonnie, and Pearl and most especially, her good friend, Susie, for all the timeless and thoughtful moments of care and companionship that they provided.

   Friends may call on  Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilm., DE 19808 where a service will begin at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
